Self-Care for People Who Roll Their Eyes at Self-Care
As a Social worker and self-care Life coach, I understand that feeling of...if someone tells you to “just do some self-care” one more time, you might scream into a pillow. For many people in caring professions, the idea of self-care can feel cringeworthy, fluffy or let’s say it, completely unrealistic.Because when you are holding the emotional weight of a caseload, a classroom or a family, bubble baths and scented candles don’t cut it.However, self-care is not about pampering. It is about preserving your ability to keep doing the work you care deeply about. It is about staying well, grounded and resilient in a world that is constantly pulling at your energy. So, if you have ever rolled your eyes at the phrase “self-care”, this one is for you.
