Positive thoughts for today

'🌙 Gratitude: The Secret Life Hack 🌙

Your brain is Velcro for negativity and Teflon for positivity—unless you train it! Before bed, write down 3 things you’re grateful for. Your future self will thank you. #TrainYourBrain #PositiveHabits '

The Power of Positive Thinking: Optimism with a Side of Humour 😊

Let’s face it: life can feel like juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle on a tightrope. It’s easy to get bogged down by the daily grind, but here’s the good news—positive thinking can help you keep your balance (and maybe even enjoy the ride).

What Is Positive Thinking, really?  Positive thinking isn’t about pretending everything is rainbows and puppies while ignoring reality. It’s about shifting your mindset to focus on solutions rather than problems, opportunities instead of obstacles, and seeing setbacks as setups for comebacks. In other words, it’s the art of not letting life’s curveballs knock you out of the game.

The Science of Positivity - Research backs this up. Studies from the Mayo Clinic show that positive thinkers have lower levels of stress, better cardiovascular health, and even stronger immune systems. It’s like upgrading your brain to “Optimism 2.0” and getting a free health boost as part of the package.  But our brains are naturally wired to focus on the negative (thanks, evolution!). This “negativity bias” in today’s world mostly makes us dwell on awkward meetings, or personalising - blaming yourself for events outside your control, or expecting the worst, focusing on what went wrong or seeing situations as all good or all bad.

Positive Thinking in Action - What if you viewed positive thinking as mental weightlifting?

Start small, light weight and increase and develop a routine of heavy weight positive thinking:  Reframe your thoughts: Instead of “Ugh, I have to go to work,” maybe, “I have a job and unlimited access to mediocre coffee.”  Seriously though, why not have go - Practice gratitude?

Maybe start with writing down three things you’re thankful for each day? It could be as simple as “I didn’t burn my toast.”

Surround yourself with positivity: If possible, spend more time with people who make you laugh and feel good about yourself, and less with people who routinely leave you feeling drained of energy, (or who treat complaining like an Olympic sport🫣).

The Funny Side of Positivity - Staying positive can feel impossible at times, e.g. you are running late, about to leave but you’ve spilled coffee on your shirt (again). Sometimes the only way to stay optimistic is to laugh at life’s absurdities (you know the expression laugh or cry). Positive thinking doesn’t mean you’ll never have bad days—it just means you’re more likely to bounce back faster, maybe with a funny story to tell....

What could your first action be to train your brain for reframing and thinking positively in the days ahead? 😊
