When Passion Becomes Pressure... You love what you do, but sometimes that passion turns into pressure.
In education, caring too much can lead to burnout. Give yourself permission to pace it.
Let passion fuel you, not drain you.
Teachers are great at compassion, for everyone else.
But what about yourself? When mistakes happen, lessons flop or someone criticises your methods, are you as kind to yourself as you’d be to a pupil?
Self-compassion isn’t soft, it’s smart. It helps you bounce back and stay well.
How to practise self-compassion in school life:
Notice your inner voice, would you speak to a child that way?
Allow yourself to be human, you don’t have to get it right all the time.
Take a break without needing to ‘earn’ it.
Reflect, but don’t ruminate.
Remember, you’re doing your best in a tough system.
